Arrest Made in Arson Case – September 14th, 2024 On September 14th, 2024, the Gananoque Police and Fire Dispatch received multiple 9-1-1 calls for a structure fire at a residence on Garden Street. Firefighters attended and aggressively fought the fire, preventing damage to neighbouring homes, and extinguishing it. As a result of multiple witness statements and evidence found at the scene, the Gananoque Police Service initiated a criminal investigation surrounding the circumstances of the fire. As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old person from Gananoque was located and arrested and charged with: Arson - Disregard for Human Life, Arson - Damage to Property, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

MEDIA RELEASE September 11, 2024 The Gananoque Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police Biker Enforcement Unit anticipate the presence of the outlaw motorcycle gang members and their associates within the Town of Gananoque this coming Friday, September 13, 2024. Outlaw motorcycle gangs are among criminal organizations whose wide array of criminal activity can cause harm and victimization in communities across Ontario. Gananoque Police Service is reminding citizens that these events have occurred over the last few years with minimal disruption and are asked to contact police if you require police assistance. L ocal Police Officers Take Kids Fishing Police officers from the Gananoque Police Service as well as other Law Enforcement agencies will help kids cast a line and have a whole lot of fun during the Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Day on Sunday August 11 th , 2024. The derby, which is sponsored by Canadian Tire Gananoque, Baldrees No Frills, Gananoque Police Association and Service, Police Association of Ontario, Gananoque Fire Service, Thousand Islands Boat Museum, The Worm Guy, WamBaits Canada, Limestone Lures, will take place from 9am to 12pm at Joel Stone Park. Registration will occur under the stage at Joel Stone Park pavilion. There will be multiple agencies in attendance including R.C.M.P, O.P.P, Coast Guard, Ministry of Natural Resources, Canada Border Services, Oceans and Fisheries, Parks Canada all showing off their boats. Learn to Fish will also be in attendance with their mobile unit to teach all the fundamentals of fishing and becoming an angler. Face painting and other activities along with lunch is provided. This event is supported by the Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation, a not-for- profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting recreational fishing for all Canadians, and by the generous financial contribution of Canadian Tire. The Gananoque Police Service recently had 4 officers certified on the Project Lifesaver Program. Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies, and is strategically designed for “at risk” individuals who are prone to the life-threatening behavior of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition. May 16th, 2024 On May 16th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a summons issued by Kingston Probation and Parole for a 34-year-old person who had breached their probation conditions. The summons was served, charging them with one count of Failure to comply with probation, to be seen in court at a later date. May 19th, 2024 On May 19th, 2024, officers received a report of a theft that had occurred at a residence while the resident was at work. Some items were recovered by the resident, and the suspect was identified. As a result, a 31-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Theft under $5000, Failure to comply with probation order and two counts of Failure to comply with release order. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. May 27th, 2024 On May 27th, 2024, officers received a report of a forged prescription faxed to a local pharmacy. The person attended the pharmacy to pick-up the prescription, and they were arrested. The 20-year-old person from Gloucester was charged with Use, deals, acts on forged document, and Failure to comply with undertaking. They were released on an undertaking with conditions. A search warrant for the person’s vehicle was obtained, and the findings from the vehicle resulted in further charges of: Fraud under $5000, Utter forged document, Possession schedule I substance – opioid x 2, and Failure to comply with undertaking. May 28th, 2024 On May 28th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a warrant issued by Kingston Probation and Parole for a 45-year-old person from Gananoque who had breached their probation conditions. On June 4th, the person was located and arrested, they were charged with one count of Failure to comply with probation. They were released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date. May 30th, 2024 On May 30th, 2024, officers responded to a verbal altercation at a residence. Upon arrival, it was determined that one person was breaching their conditions by being with the other occupant of the residence. A 35-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Failure to comply with undertaking and released on an appearance notice. May 31st, 2024 On May 31st, 2024, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers speaking with the driver observed signs of impairment. A roadside alcotest was conducted, resulting in a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the station for further testing. As a result, the 66-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). They were released on an appearance notice, received a 90-day administrative license suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days. June 4th, 2024 On June 4th, 2024, officers on patrol observed a possible verbal altercation at a local motel. The occupants then left the premise and a traffic stop was conducted. Upon identifying the driver and passenger, it was determined that the passenger was breaching their conditions. As a result, the 53-year-old person from Plainfield was arrested and charged with Failure to comply with release order, and Failure to comply with undertaking. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. June 5th, 2024 On June 5th, 2024, officers responded to a restaurant with a driver showing signs of impairment in the drive-thru. The driver was given a roadside alcotest by officers, who also observed signs of impairment, resulting in a fail. They were arrested and transported to the station for further testing. The 71-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). They were released on an appearance notice, received a 90-day administrative license suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days. June 7th, 2024 On June 7th, 2024, officers received information of a youth breaching their conditions and not abiding by the surety’s rules. That evening the youth attended the station to turn themselves in. They were arrested and charged with Failure to comply with release order and held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. June 8th, 2024 On June 8th, 2024, officers responded to a domestic dispute in progress, upon arrival of police, the suspect fled from the residence. The victim was assessed by paramedics, and officers patrolled and located the suspect. A 35-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with: Assault – spousal x 3, Forcible confinement, Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate, or strangle another person, Failure to comply with probation order x 4. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

March 19th, 2024 On March 19th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of extortion valuing approximately $9,200 dollars taken from the victim. An extensive investigation was conducted that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old person from Lansdowne and a 15-year-old person from Kingston. They were charged with Extortion, and released on an Undertaking with conditions. March 21st, 2024 On March 21st, 2024, officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival, officer observed damage to the residence’s door and a vehicle’s windshield. The suspect had departed but was located a short distance away. The 35-year-old person from Gananoque was place under arrest and charged with Assault – spousal, Mischief under $5000, and Fail to comply with probation order. They were held for a show cause bail hearing. March 26th, 2024 On March 26th, 2024, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver failed to produce identification and instead provided multiple false verbal identities. The driver and passenger were arrested, and during a search of both parties, officers located 9grams of methamphetamine, 23 Dilauded pills, 15 codeine pills, a folding knife, pepper spray, and drug paraphernalia. As a result, a 31-year-old person from Loyalist Township was charged with Failure to comply with undertaking x2, Obstruct peace officer, Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, and Possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs. The 28-year-old person from Kingston was charged with Fail to comply with probation order, Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x2, Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs, and Possession of a schedule II substance – other drugs. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions. April 1st, 2024 On April 1st, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a person refusing to leave a premise. Officers attended, and while speaking with the 53-year-old person from Gananoque, they became irate and threatened to burn down the premise, and harm others. As a result, they were arrested and charged with Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm. They were release on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date. April 13th, 2024 On April 13th, 2024, officers on patrol observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified and confirmed to be a suspended driver. The passenger was identified and found to have a valid drivers license. Upon exiting the vehicle, a weapon was observed on the passenger, who was on a weapons prohibition. As a result, a 32-year-old-person from Toronto was arrested and a further search uncovered: 45grams of cocaine, 5.95grams of MDMA, and a 9” spring loaded knife. The person was charged with Possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose, Failure to comply with prohibition order, Possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs, and Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date. April 20th, 2024 On April 20th, 2024, officers responded to a report of a person in possible medical distress in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, a vehicle was observed in the middle of an intersection, with the engine accelerating at a high RPM, and smelled of burning. The lone occupant was slumped over the steering wheel, and was eventually roused by police. Officers observed severe signs of impairment, and the 64-year-old person from Kingston was placed under arrest. After further testing, they were charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days. April 20th, 2024 On April 20th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call of a domestic dispute in progress. Officers arrived and an investigation was conducted, resulting in a 47-year-old person from Kingston to be arrested and charged with Mischief – destroys or damages property, Assault – spousal x 2, and Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person. The accused was released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date. April 20th, 2024 On April 20th, 2024, a 53-year-old person from Gananoque was located at an address that they were on previous conditions to not attend. The person was arrested and their actions post-arrest resulted in the following charges: Failure to comply with undertaking, False alarm of fire, and Mischief – destroys or damages property. They were held for a show cause bail hearing. April 21st, 2024 On April 9th, 2024, a 31-year-old person from Gananoque failed to attend court as required. As a result, a bench warrant was issued. On April 21st, 2024, officers responded to a residence where the wanted person was located and arrested. They were held for a show cause bail hearing.

March 4th, 2024 On March 4th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service conducted an investigation after receiving a report of a 28-year-old person who had breached their probation conditions. As a result, on March 7th, 2024, the person was arrested by officers and charged with Fail to comply with probation x2, and Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm x2. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions. March 4th, 2024 On June 30th, 2021, officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a person driving dangerously, nearly striking pedestrians and stealing a vehicle from a business parking lot. The person fled Westbound on the 401 Highway, before intentionally striking a police cruiser from a neighbouring service. The person was involved in multiple pursuits that were all terminated due to the manner the individual was driving, before being stopped via a tire deflation device. The person then fled on foot but was apprehended by a K9 Unit. The 47-year-old individual from Maynooth was charged by the Gananoque Police Service with Theft over $5000, Failure to comply with release order x 2, Dangerous operation, Operation while prohibited under the criminal code x 6. They were held in custody by the neighbouring jurisdiction so a warrant was sought, and on March 3rd, 2024, that warrant was executed at a detention center. The individual was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. March 7th, 2024 On February 2nd, 2024, officers received a report of thefts that occurred at a Gananoque business in December 2023. An investigation was conducted and as a result, a 36-year-old individual from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Theft under $5000 x 3. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date. March 14th, 2024 On March 14th, 2024, officers responded to a report of a person walking on King Street who was a suspect of a break and enter that occurred the previous day in the Ontario Provincial Police’s jurisdiction. The 33-year-old person was arrested and transported to the station until OPP attended to assume ownership of the arrest.
